After 200,000 miles on BMW motorcycles, I have toured with Barbara all over north and south eastern United States as well as crossing the country. Our extensive experience riding in all conditions, cold and heat, rain and shine, wind and snow, ice and storms, from luxury hotels to bear bones camping, we have experienced many things that we would like to share with you. Riding techniques, clothing preferences, maintainance while on the road, the "how to's" regarding weather and road conditions, the "do's" and the don'ts". How to enjoy the best from motorcycle touring by being fully prepared! A fantastic scenic tour, staying at "top-notch" accomodations with great food, will be coming in 2009. The Appalachian mountain chain runs through the western part of the state, forming the lush landscape of the region. The Great Smoky Mountains in southwestern North Carolina are one of the country's top natural destinations, and visitors can enjoy 250 miles of the world-famous Blue Ridge Parkway winding through North Carolina's mountains. Mount Mitchell is the highest peak in the state, and at 6,684 feet, it is also the tallest mountain in the eastern United States.
Two-thirds of North Carolina's mountains are covered with hardwood forests, and in autumn, the over 120 species of trees put on a brilliant display of color. Summers are cool and refreshing with low humidity. | THE ESCORTED NC TOUR. Starting on a Thursday through until Monday morning, this tour will take you through the incredible sites of North Carolina, through beautiful farmland, through to the mountains, to the top of Grand Father Mountain, onto Mount Mitchell and back through challenging twisties to home base.
