BMW factory tensioner piston update kit fits all Oilhead models from 1994-early 2005.
When you park your bike, the oil pressure bleeds out of the stock cam chain tensioner piston. That noise you hear on start up is the chain smacking your tensioner rails until the oil pressure builds up inside the tensioner piston. Over time this has been shown to damage the rails and lead to costly repairs.
This new style tensioner piston (introduced by BMW in the 2005 model year) has a check valve to prevent pressure loss when the bike is parked and protects your tensioners on start up.
The new style tensioner piston is easy to replace and is located on top of the left cylinder where it meets the engine block.
This kit includes all associated parts for the upgrade.
